Roslyn Niehans Obituary

NIEHANS-Roslyn Jane Niehans, 79, of Boise, passed away August 6, 2004 in Boise, Idaho. Roslyn was born in Brooklyn, New York to Gabriel and Yvonne Alvarez on Dec. 26, 1925. Ros was raised in the Bronx with her sister Cora. She married Michael Hayes (later divorced) and had a son Dennis M. in Austria after World War II. Ros became a professional skater and toured the U.S.. She met the love of her lif e, Byron "Tut" Niehans while on tour in Denver, Colorado. Roslyn and Tut were married in California where they raised their three sons. Mom was an avid baseball fan, loved her pet terriers, and volunteered her time as a teacher's aide. Ros became a bookkeeper, and later entered retail sales where she won sales awards and enjoyed finding bargains for friends and family. Ros and Tut moved to Boise in 1993 to semi-retire and enjoy "God's Country". Mom continued working at JCPenney's, enjoyed exploring Idaho, v isiting with family and friends in Stanley, and boating with Tut and her dog Scoobie. Roslyn is survived by sons, Dennis M. (Susan) of Pocatello, Idaho, Dennis L. (Kit) of Bishop, California, and Brent (Julie) of Boise, Idaho; grandchildren, Jennifer (Chris) Wilhelm, David, Fred (Tammy), Tristan; and eight great grandchildren. She is also survived by niece Yvonne Kuchmak, and Steven, Billy and Paul Froehlich. Roslyn is preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Tut, sister, Cora and both parents. A famil y graveside service will be held at Morris Hill Cemetery in Boise, Idaho at 1:30 P.M. on Saturday, August 14, 2004. Arrangements are under the direction of Summers Funeral Homes, Boise Chapel.
