William H. Gile

1925 - 2016

William Hill Gile was born on June 26,1925 to Evelyn

Hill and Laurence Bliss Gile at Queen of Angels Hospital in Los Angeles, a 10th generation American

whose ancestors fought in the Revolutionary and Civil Wars. He died on December 2, 2016 in Whittier,

California shortly after suffering a heart attack. He

leaves behind his loving wife Barbara, five children,

their spouses and partner, ten grandchildren, five great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was pre-­?deceased by sisters Marie

Dalton, Margaret Dolan,George-­?Anna Mowrey, and

Laura Sharp, great grandson Nate Cosentino and his

first wife. At the height of the building boom in Los Angeles, he became a representative for manufacturers of valves and engineering materials.

He built a steady career and during this time he met and married Jean Gable. Together they had three children, Nancy Waldner, William Jeffrey Gile and John Laurence Gile. Bill met his second wife Barbara in 1975 and they merged their families, with her two daughters Laura Jimenez and Dawn Bova. The extended family joined together frequently and he loved nothing more than being surrounded by all of them in the Whittier house he designed and built in 1960.
