Amy Menzer Obituary

Menzer, Amy Jo

Amy Jo Menzer, 57, of Sheboygan, passed away Thursday, December 15, 2016, at Aurora Grafton Medical Center surrounded by loved ones.

Born November 6, 1959 in Sheboygan, Amy was a daughter of the late Carol Grunewald Lorenz and Jack Lorenz. She attended area schools and graduated from Sheboygan North High School in 1978. She continued her education at both U.W. La Crosse and U.W. Milwaukee. While working at EBCO, she met the love of her life, Michael S. Menzer. On August 21, 1982, they were united in marriage at Zion Church.

A special time in her life was being a stay at home mom to raise her two wonderful sons, Aaron and Tyler. She enjoyed being the breakfast and lunch lady at Grant School where she enjoyed getting to know the students. Later she worked in food service at Lakeland University. She volunteered at the Gathering Place before becoming the kitchen supervisor. She loved meeting and interacting with the participants at the Gathering Place. She also went to work for Theo's Pizza as a training supervisor. She had an easy going personality with a wonderful smile. Amy met many lifetime friends thru work. One of her greatest joys was spending time with her family at the cottage in Phillips, WI, where she learned to play golf with her mother and close friends. Amy loved cooking and watching cooking shows. She also enjoyed spending time with her family playing sheepshead and watching the Packers. She particularly loved vacationing in Mexico and being a snowbird to Florida and the Carolina's.

She is survived by her husband, Michael, Sheboygan; her two sons, Aaron Menzer, Sheboygan Falls, and Tyler (Emma) Menzer, Sheboygan; her father, Jack Lorenz, Sheboygan Falls; her brothers and sister, Timothy Lorenz, Scott Lorenz, and Ann Lorenz, all of Sheboygan; close family friend, Laura Clanderman, Sheboygan Falls, her mother-in-law, Germaine "Judy" Menzer, Sheboygan; her brothers-in-law, Mark Menzer, Sheboygan, and Paul (April) Menzer, Marietta, GA; and her sister-in-law, Tanya Menzer, Clever, MO; nieces and nephews, Jennifer, Joel, Megan, Jordan and Cody; other relatives and many friends.

Besides her mother, Carol, she was preceded in death by her father-in-law, Waldemar "Wally" Menzer, and her brother-in-law, Scott Menzer.

A memorial service will take place at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, January 6, 2017, at the Olson Funeral Home & Cremation Service. The Rev. Timothy J. Mech will officiate. Family and friends are welcome at the funeral home on Friday from 3:00 p.m. until the time of service.

A memorial fund has been established in her name.

The Olson Funeral Home & Cremation Service has been entrusted with Amy's arrangements.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Aurora Grafton ICU for all of their loving care and support.

Just found out about Amy's death and wanted to express my sincere sympathy to her family. I worked with Amy at Theo's for a couple of years and she was always very enjoyable to work with. Her sunny personality and dry sense of humor will be missed. I'm so sorry for your loss.

I am so very sorry for Amy's sudden passing. Amy and my friendship goes way back to when we were 3 years old. Through the years, we didn't get together as often, but our friendship was so very special always. Amy was so proud of her husband, Mike, and her sons that she talked so highly of always. Mike, Aaron, Tyler, Jack, Tim, Scott and Ann....you have my heartfelt condolences at Amy's passing. My prayers are with you all.
