Bernice Stanskas Obituary

Bernice E. Stanskas

Sheboygan - Bernice E. Stanskas, age 88, of Sheboygan went to be with her Lord on Saturday, July 28, 2018 at Rocky Knoll Health Care Center where she had been a resident for a short time.

Bernice was born in Cleveland on September 20, 1929 to the late John and Norma (Hill) Hauch. She attended local schools and graduated from North High School. Bernice was united in marriage to John Stanskas on January 5, 1952, at St. Dominic Catholic Church in Sheboygan. He preceded her in death on July 24, 2002. She was a member at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.

Bernice was employed at Pranges where she enjoyed being a sales clerk in the stationary department. She also enjoyed tending to her rosebushes and flower gardens. Another talent Bernice had was sewing. Her grandchildren have fond Christmas memories of handsewn pajamas from grandma. Spending time with her beloved grandchildren meant a lot to Bernice. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Bernice is survived by her son Gordon (Helen) Stanskas; three daughters, Diane Stanskas, Nancy Stanskas and Carol Wise; grandchildren, Crystal and Scotty Wise, and Claudia and Margaret Stanskas; a sister Delores Vrckovic and her faithful companion Sammy. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends further survive.

Along with her husband, John, Bernice was preceded in death by a son Gregg; five brothers, Hilarian "Lefty", Francis, Robert, Alois "Butch" and Kenny and a sister Margaret Schweikert.

A Funeral Service for Bernice will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, August 3 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 2705 S. 14th St., Sheboygan with Rev. Robert Lotz officiating. The family will accept visitors on Friday, at the church, from 9:00 AM until the service at 11:00 AM. Bernice will be laid to rest in the Holy Cross Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made in Bernice's name to either Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice or St. Nicholas Hospital Home Health and Hospice.

The family would like to thank the staff at both Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice and St. Nicholas Hospital Home Health and Hospice for all your comfort and care during this difficult time. They would also like to thank the staff at Rocky Knoll Health Care Center for the amazing care given to Bernice for the last few months.

Carol & Family, I am sorry to hear of the loss of your mother. Was with Amy yesterday and she mentioned your mother's passing. The love that your mom shared with you & the memories that you have will help through this difficult time. Mary Lutzke

Remembering Christmas and how every year all our families went to visit each other to see the decorated trees and all the gifts and had yummy homemade treats. Good times.
Our thoughts and prayers to the family.
