Brett, George A.

George A. Brett, 66, of Sheboygan passed away on Friday evening, November 8, 2013 at St. Nicholas Hospital.

George was born in Sheboygan on September 10, 1947 a son to Nicholas and Maria (Anastopolis) Brett. He graduated from Sheboygan South High School and furthered his education at the UW-Milwaukee. He graduated from Dr. Scholl's School of Podiatry in Chicago. On August 19, 1973 he was united in marriage to Evangeline Lambros at Assumption Greek Orthodox Church in Chicago. George was a podiatrist in Sheboygan for many years. George was an avid Packer fan and golfer. In his youth he was a baseball pitcher and was scouted by a major league team. He was also accomplished on the clarinet and enjoyed the distinction of playing at Carnegie Hall.

George was a member of St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Church and had served as President of the Church Board. His other memberships included the Noon Optimist Club and the Podiatry Association.

George is survived by his wife, Eva; his two daughters, Maria (Justin) Gray of San Diego and Lisa (Bryan) Thiel of Cedar Grove; a stepbrother, Steve (Sandy) Chronis of the Fox Valley; a half-sister, Sissy (Chuck) Arant of Tennessee; a half-brother, Michael Brett; his father-in-law, Christ Lambros of Sheboygan; a very close and special friend, James Bohren of Sheboygan and many other family members and close friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his mother-in-law, Marianthe Lambros, an uncle, Louis Anastopolis and an aunt, Kristina Anastopolis.

A funeral service for George will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, November 12 at St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Church with Rev. Fr. Michael T. Stearns presiding. Burial will follow in the Woodland Cemetery in Kohler. Family and friends may gather on Monday evening at the Reinbold-Novak Funeral Home, 1535 S. 12 St. from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. and at the church1425 S. 10th St. on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. A Trisagion service will be held at the funeral home on Monday evening at 7 p.m.

A memorial fund has been established in George's name.

George's family would like to extend their sincere and deep appreciation to the staff of St. Nicholas Hospital ICU and to Drs. DeTrana, Coulis and Kream for all the care and compassion given to him and his family.

So sorry to hear about George, I didn't realize he had become sick until Bryan mentioned it last week. We always had a lot of fun with him and will miss those times. He even made moving him and Eva into their knew house an experience! Very well written obituary, it highlighted just what a person can accomplish in a lifetime.
