Joyce B. Koenigs, age 86, of Sheboygan, found peace on Saturday, April 5, 2014 at the Sheboygan Senior Community after a variety of illnesses which prevented her from doing many things she needed and wanted to do.

Joyce was born in Fond du Lac, the daughter of the late Arthur and Charlotte Alby Heckenbach. She enjoyed a very happy and loving home life with her brother, Roy, and her parents. There was a lot of laughter, music, good times, but especially love.

Joyce attended Fond du Lac schools and graduated from Goodrich High School in 1946. She worked at WI Telephone Office as a long distance operator, and later at Kiekafer's (now Mercury Marine) as a receptionist. She worked at WI Hearing Aid Co. as a receptionist where she met Paul. Joyce and Paul were married on August 19, 1950 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Fond du Lac, and moved to Sheboygan in 1951. She later took a course at LTC, and was also employed there.

She enjoyed her private activities of praying and devoting herself to her Lord. Joyce expressed herself artistically through the love of poems and music, her greatest love of all, her son Jeff. Joyce truly loved making her home and caring for her family.

Joyce is survived by her son, Jeff, of WI; her sisters-in-law, Mrs. Sally (Louis) Piazzon, of Independence, IA, Mrs. Lillian (Wilbert) Kraus, of Fund du Lac, Mary (Ben) Kraus, of Malone, WI and Mrs. Betty Koenigs, of Fond du Lac; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other family and very special friends whose assistance she is most grateful.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Paul, her brother, Roy Heckenbach, and her brother-in-law, Francis Koenigs.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Joyce on Thursday, April 10, 2014 at 12:00 P.M. at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church, 818 Huron Ave., Sheboygan with Rev. Carlos Zapata as celebrant. Family and friends may call at the church on Thursday morning from 10:00 A.M. until the time of Mass at 12:00 P.M.. Interment will be at Sunrise Memorial Gardens next to her husband.

In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in Joyce's name. The Reinbold-Novak Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be expressed at www.reinboldfh.com
