Tuneberg, Lois LaVerne

Lois LaVerne Tuneberg, 86, of Rockford, was welcomed into the arms of her loving savior and reunion with her beloved husband on Tuesday, April 26, 2016, at Alpine Fireside. She was born July 18, 1929, in Chicago, IL; the daughter of Elmer and Clara (Nelson) Carlson. She married Dr. Richard K. Tuneberg on October 10, 1952, in Chicago; he predeceased her January 19, 2005. Lois graduated from Roosevelt High School in Chicago and attended Trinity College. Lois was a lifelong member of First Evangelical Free Church, where she served as a deaconess and was a member of Kum Double Sunday school class. She also enjoyed visiting and volunteering at nursing homes in her free time. Lois was an incredible cook known for her Swedish Split Pea Soup, Cardamom Coffee Cake and many casseroles. Lois and Dick enjoyed traveling and exploring the country coast to coast by auto. Her life revolved around God, her Husband, and her Family.

She is survived by her sons, Lee of Sheboygan, WI. Dr. Perry (Dawn) of Rockford, James (Martha) of Rockford, Vance of San Francisco, CA; and Chad (Leah) of Rockford; daughter, Ann (Ken) Waldyn of Rockford; grandchildren, Erica, Dr. Kent, Ross, Carl, Zachary(Cassandra), Jamie, Brit and Jori Tuneberg, Gunnar, Lael and Leif Verace, and Laura, Lisa, and James Waldyn, Mats and Melaina Tuneberg; great-grandchildren, Anabelle, Braeden, Jessalynn, Anabelle and Alice; sisters, Loretta (Robert) Hoskins, Lorraine Syverson, and Linda (Dr. Jack) Janigian, and sister-in-law, Trudy Carlson. She is predeceased by her sister, Leona Zimmerman Bombach and brother, Leonard Carlson. Lois's family would like to express gratitude to the outstanding staff and care she received at Fairhaven Nursing Home, Morningstar Village, and Alpine Fireside. We would like to give a sincere thank you to her CNA's, as well as comfort givers, Patti Adams and Caroline Seabaugh.

Visitation will be from 3:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Friday, April 29, 2016, in Olson Funeral & Cremation Services, Fred C. Olson Chapel, 1001 Second Ave. Rockford. Private family service will take place with Rev. Bertie Holmgren and Rev. Dr. Lareau Thorwall officiating. Private family burial in Arlington Memorial Park.
