Ann M. (Perkins) Payne, 80, of Fairland, passed away on Monday, June 23, 2025, at Major Hospital in Shelbyville. She was born in New York City, New York, on Aug. 29, 1944, to Vernon E. and Margaret A. (Butler) Perkins. Ann married Charles A. Payne on Nov. 24, 1979, in Indianapolis.
She dedicated 30 years to customer service at Indiana Bell and also worked 20 years at IUPUI, retiring from both. Ann cherished spending time with her grandchildren. She also loved reading, traveling, and relaxing with her favorite Hallmark Channel movies.
Ann is survived by her husband, Charles "Chuck" Payne; children, John Flanagan, Catherine (Darin) Nulliner, and Thomas (Carla) Payne; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; siblings, Ben (Andrea) Perkins, Patrick (Margaret) Perkins, Brenda (Frank) Perez, Nicholas (Michelle) Perkins, Christopher (Marla) Perkins, and Matthew (Wendy) Perkins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Vernon and Margaret Perkins; daughter, Jennifer McKinney; brothers, Eugene Perkins and Michael Perkins; and sister, Sheila Poole.
Visitation was held on Thursday, June 26, from 4-7 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. U.S. Hwy. 40, Greenfield. A funeral service took place immediately following the visitation at 7 p.m. A private graveside took place at New Palestine Cemetery in New Palestine.
