Kathleen "Kathy" Leffler Stevens, 1957–2025, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her daughter and daughter-in-law at their home in Panama City Beach, Florida.
Born in southern Indiana, Kathy spent her life creating beauty in many forms. She owned and operated a successful hair salon for many years before relocating to Dothan, Alabama, in 2001. There, she turned her creative passion toward the responsible breeding and grooming of Australian Shepherds, a pursuit she dedicated herself to for 16 years. Her work enhanced the breed worldwide, and though some attempted to diminish her contributions, Kathy's legacy lives on in every dog she lovingly raised. Later, she returned to her stylist roots and joined Great Clips in Dothan, where she built lasting connections with clients and coworkers alike. She earned her bachelor's degree in business from Troy State University and found strength and community at Harvest Church. Kathy sparkled in her love of jewelry and anything that shimmered. She was a passionate shopper and thrifter who could spot beauty in the everyday, from vintage finds to Longaberger baskets. Christmas was her favorite season, and her home reflected the warmth, light, and laughter she brought to life.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Doris Leffler. Survivors include her daughter, Lindsey Townsend, and Lindsey's wife, Tasha Jackson, both of Panama City; her sisters, Cindi Smith and husband Bill, and Cis Leffler, both of Shelbyville, Indiana; and a host of dear friends who will forever cherish her laughter, loyalty, and sparkle. Donations in her memory may be made to Harvest Church in Dothan, Alabama.

Kathy had one of the biggest hearts and a gift for bringing sunshine to everyone around her. She lived her life selflessly, always looking for ways to help others and make them feel special. She had a deep love for the holidays, and some of our most cherished memories were made in her home... with laughter, lights, and the magic she created.
The last seven years of her life were the happiest and fullest she ever had. During that time, she discovered her true passions and embraced life with joy. She adored the Grinch and flamingos, and we would alternate years to showcase her themed Christmas trees.
She was also instrumental in upholding the integrity of a local Australian Shepherd breeding program, ensuring it thrived through her business mind and unwavering commitment to ethical breeding. Kathy was proud of her Swedish Vallhunds and especially her beloved, award-winning Popi.
To call her my mother-in-law feels far too small for what she truly was... she was a mother and a friend. I´ll forever miss our holidays together, carefully planning menus, exchanging thoughtful gifts, and sharing the quiet joy of being family.
Though she loved the Grinch, there was nothing grinchy about her heart. Kathy was an amazing woman, and the world is brighter for all the good she did.

I haven´t forgotten Kathy´s compassion for others
When my mother was unable to go out, Kathy would come to our home to style mom´s hair. A wonderful and thoughtful lady. She will be missed.
