Penney Joan Huntsman, 62, passed away on September 27, 2025, in Indianapolis, Indiana. Born on March 17, 1963, in Shelbyville, Indiana, Penney lived a life marked by compassion, creativity, and dedication to those around her.
A graduate of Columbus East High School, Penney devoted her professional life to serving others through various roles in human services. Her work with non-profit organizations focused especially on supporting homeless neighbors – a reflection of her deep empathy and commitment to making a difference in the lives of those most in need.
Penney's greatest joy came from her family. She is lovingly remembered by her husband, Alan Lee; her mother, Patricia Corley (Leon); her daughter, Jaclyn Bean; her son, Christopher Bean (Abby); and her cherished grandchildren, Caroline and Henry Bean. She was preceded in death by her father, Gene Huntsman, and her brother, Rodney Huntsman.
Outside of work and family life, Penney found happiness in the simple pleasures that brought joy to each day. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren-moments she treasured deeply. Her creative spirit shone through art projects and more recently in DIY home improvements that reflected both skill and heart. A devoted dog lover, she cared for her pets with the same tenderness she extended to all living beings.
Penney was known for her caring nature and steadfast love for family and friends. Her legacy lives on through the lives she touched and through the enduring bonds she nurtured throughout her life.
