Steven Steve Johnson, 62 of Milroy, passed away on February 6, 2023 in Indianapolis. He was born on November 29, 1960 in Rushville, IN to the late Thomas R. and Marcella (Lewark) Johnson.
Steve was a 1979 graduate of Rushville High School. He married Pam Simmons Johnson on August 8, 1981 and she survives. Steve has been a lifelong farmer in Rush County. He was a bus driver for Rush County Schools since 1989, driving the varsity teams to their away games. Steve also was a book keeper for all sports through Rushville High School. He enjoyed watching sporting events, family vacations and hosting parties while cooking fried chicken. Steve was affiliated with the RCHS Booster Club for several years. He took great pride in helping raise money for students and athletes in his community.
In addition to his loving wife, Pam, he is survived by his son, Ryan (Jenni) Johnson of Greensburg and daughter, Jenny (Matthew) Jones of Rushville; brother, Larry (Ginny) Johnson of Rush County; sisters, Carol (Loren) Beck of Greensburg, Debbie (Gary) Cook of Greensburg and Karen (David) Hoeing of Rushville. He will be missed by his grandchildren, Ellie Johnson, Carter Johnson, Morgan Jones and Megan Jones; and several nieces and nephews.
Steve is preceded in death by his parents and his niece, Melinda Johnson Dora.
Services will be held on Monday, February 13, 2023 at 10 AM in Rushville Memorial Gymnasium, with Pastor Jim Coyle presiding. Friends are welcome to visit the family from 2 PM-6PM in the gymnasium on Sunday afternoon. Burial will be held in Richland Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Rush County Community Foundation to the Rush County Fair Grounds Fund, RCHS Athletic Department or Give Kids the World Village, https://www.gktw.org. Moster Mortuary is entrusted to the arrangements.
