BLACKSBURG, SC-Steven Alan Parris, 40, of 517 Dravo Road, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2017, Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.
Born in Spartanburg, he was the husband of Vickie Spake Parris and son of Karen Petty Parris of Gaffney and the late William Steve Parris. He was a graduate of Gaffney High School, retired from Cherokee Finishing, and a member of Old Rugged Cross Baptist Church in Shelby, NC. He loved fishing, camping and farming, was a member of the Outboard Boating Club and an avid Gamecocks fan.
Surviving in addition to his wife and mother are two daughters, Chynna Parris and Rebekah Parris, both of the home; three brothers, Brian Parris and wife, Sherry, O. J. Parris and Daniel Parris, all of Gaffney; his maternal grandfather Buddy Petty of Gaffney; two nieces, Amanda Razo and Brianna Parris and two nephews, Luke Parris and Donovan Spake.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m., on Thursday, Aug. 31, 2017, at Blakely Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., on Friday, Sept. 1, 2017, at Old Rugged Cross Baptist Church in Shelby, NC, with Pastor Jerry Allen, Rev. Jimmy Powell, Pastor Johnny Mullinax, Pastor Thor Smith and Pastor Kenneth Queen officiating.
Interment will be in the Old Rugged Cross Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Troy Martin, Michael Boyd, Jeremie Martin, Mikey Wylie, Mike Mullinax, Pastor Thor Smith and Pastor Johnny Mullinax.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Old Rugged Baptist Church, "Building Fund", P.O. Box 336, Earl, NC 28038.
The family will be at the home of Patsy Spake, 516 Dravo Road, Blacksburg.
