BOBBY LEACH SR.

SHELBY- Mr. Bobby Eugene Leach, Sr., 70, of 512 Durham St., Shelby, left this earthly life peacefully at his home with his loving family at his bedside on Friday, March 24, 2017, at his home. He was born on June 26, 1946, in Cleveland County, N.C., to the late James Leonard and Lillian Sara Jane Davidson Leach.

Bobby was a graduate of Compact High School in Kings Mountain, North Carolina. In 1975, he earned an Associate Degree in Applied Science with a major in Industrial Management from Cleveland Technical Institute in Shelby, North Carolina. Bobby later returned to Cleveland Technical Institute in 1977 and earned an Associate Degree in General Education.

After high school graduation, Bobby went to work for Craftspun Yarns in Kings Mountain. In 1969, he was drafted into the United States Army serving form 1969-1971 and earning the rank of Specialist Four. While serving in the Army in the Republic of Vietnam, Bobby was awarded the Army Commendation Medal. Following his years in the Army, he returned to Fiber Industries and retired after 34 years of service. During his retirement years, Bobby worked for Crest High School as a substitute teacher and bus driver where he received an award for Bus Driver of the Year.

Bobby joined Shiloh A.M.E. Zion Church at an early age. Bobby served his church faithfully.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jacqueline Leach; two sisters, Betty Crocker Williams and Tenna Adams and a brother, Donald O'Neal Leach.

He leaves to cherish his memory, two children, Bobby Leach, Jr. of Shelby, North Carolina, and Antoinette McCree of Temple Hills, Maryland; his siblings, Goldie Leach Russell and James Leach, Jr. (Mattie) both of Kings Mountain, North Carolina, Nancy Julien (Terry) of New Rochelle, New York, Brenda Leach Williams (Clarke) of Baltimore, Maryland, and John Wayne Leach (Janet) of Shelby; seven grandchildren, Kadedra Ussery, Aniyah Perry Leach, Kavacia Shell and Samiyah Perry Foster all of Shelby, Jayden Walker of Forest City, North Carolina, and Symoriah Littlejohn and Bobby Leach, III both of Shelby; two sisters-in-law, Shirley McCree and Frances McSwain; two brothers-in-law, John Adams and Curt McCree and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., on Thursday, March 30, 2017, at St. Peter Baptist Church, with the Rev. Jonty Leak officiating.

Burial will take place at Shiloh AME Zion Church.

The family will receive friends from 12 until 1 p.m., on Thursday, and at other times at the home.
