David Bridges Obituary
GASTONIA – David Lee Bridges, 87, of Gastonia, passed away Friday, June 2, 2017, at the Robin Johnson Hospice House in Dallas. He was a native of Cleveland County and the son of the late Carver Spurgeon Bridges and Jennie Dean Allen Bridges.
Mr. Bridges retired from Bell South and was a past president of the Telephone Pioneers, past president of Communications Workers of America in Shelby, former Deacon of Mt. Sinai Baptist Church, served on the Board of Directors of Number 3 Egg Co. in Shelby, a member of First Baptist Church in Gastonia and a US Air Force Veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Jean Rae Moore Bridges; sons, Stephen Bridges and wife Brenda Arroyo of N. Myrtle Beach, S.C., David Bridges and wife Samantha of Ringgold GA; daughters, Jeannie Kayler of Belmont, Sharon Abernathy and husband Clyde of Gastonia; brothers, Carl Bridges, Dean Bridges and wife Barbara, Don Bridges and wife Leila all of Shelby; sisters, Dorothy Hamrick Wilkinson of Raleigh, Jolena Rabon of Charlotte; sister-in-law, Linda Lee Naylor; grandchildren, Joshua Haney, Kristy Kirby, Lauren Nix, John Haney, Alexandra Arroyo - Bridges, Noah Bridges, Jennie Bridges and Daniel Lee Mullis; great-grandchildren, Raeleigh Kirby, Tripp Kirby, Fallon Kirby and Ariana Nix.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brothers, Lawrence Bridges and wife Nancy, Spurgeon Bridges; sister-in-law, Annie Rae Bridges; brother-in-law, Charles Rabon and Herman Naylor.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday June 4, 2017, at McLean Funeral Directors in Gastonia.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday, June 5, 2017, at the First Baptist Church in Gastonia with Reverend Steven Fuller officiating.
Interment will be 3 p.m. Monday, June 5, 2017 at Mt.Sinai Baptist Church Cemetery in Shelby.
