I was born and raised less than 2 miles from Mr. and Mrs. Tates farm on Killian Road. The road was dirt back when the whole area was covered with small family farms, and neighbors helped each other when in need, and shared anything they had.
Mr. Tate, Clement and Mr. Tate Helen were among the hardest working folks on Killian Road, working jobs and farming, milking cows, raising and chickens, sladering hogs, and raising big vegetable gardens, hay and grain. The Tates were pillars of the community, helped everyone at one time or another and were respected highly thought of by everyone who knew them. It has been several years since I talked to Mrs. Tate when we crossed paths, but talking with her was always inspiring, and reminded me how special she and Mr. Tate were and what a great impression they made on me when I was young.
I know I am a better person because of the example they set.
I am was very sad to hear of Mrs. Tates departure, and my prayers go out to the family in their time of grieving.
She is certainly one of the people I have known that I know are now in Heaven.
