John Tuft Obituary

SHELBY - Mr. John Albert Tuft made his transition on Sunday, Dec. 13, 2009, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
He was born May 9, 1944, in Cleveland County, one of 15 children, to the late Nathan and Eular Mae Thurman Tuft of Waco. He was a member of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church. He worked in the textile industry for 20 years; he did construction work and was a custodian for Gaston County School Systems.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Lee and Raymond Tuft; and four sisters, Minnie Brown, Mittie Earl, Eular Young and Pearl Craig.
He leaves to cherish his fond memories in the hearts of his loving and devoted wife of 44 years, Shirley Montgomery Tuft of the home; two sons, John Bill Tuft (Kimberly) of Kings Mountain and Albert Eugene Tuft of the home; one daughter, Amanda Tuft McCorkle (Vincent) of Crouse; two special granddaughters, Gabrielle (Gabby) and Logan McCorkle; six brothers, Willie James Tuft of Gaffney, S.C., Nathan Tuft Jr. (Valerie) and Ben Tuft Sr. (Rebecca), both of Waco, Joe Tuft of Shelby, Roy Lee Tuft of Lawndale and Bobby Tuft (Tracey) of Greenville, S.C.; two sisters, Zuie Dee (Alec) of Kings Mountain and Lizzie Epps of Waco; one special niece who was raised with the family, Patricia Montgomery (William) of Cherryville; and a host of brothers-in-laws, sisters-in-laws, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Funeral: Thursday, Dec. 17, 2:30 p.m., Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church
Officiated by: The Rev. Ryan McCain and Billy J. Ramsaur with words of comfort
Visitation: The family will receive friends 30 minutes before the service, at the church.
Burial: Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery
