Polly Hord Obituary

MOORESBORO-Mrs. Polly VanDyke Hord, 77, of Mooresboro, passed away on Jan. 1, 2013, at her home. A native of Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late Joe T. VanDyke Sr. and Calva Powell VanDyke.
Mrs. Hord worked for Blue Ridge Insurance M & J Finance and also worked in the family business at Bob's Seafood in Mooresboro. A member of Sandy Run Baptist Church, she was active in various positions, and was a former member of the Mooresboro Women's Club. Polly had a wonderful sense of humor and was blessed with many special friends. She also enjoyed reading, traveling, baking and spending time with her family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby R. Hord; brothers, Joe T. VanDyke Jr., Jimmy VanDyke, and Harold VanDyke; and a sister, Ruby McSwain.
She is survived by two daughters, Cindy Witherspoon and husband Wayne of Mooresboro, Karen Cabaniss and husband John of Johnson City, Tenn.; grandchildren, Chance Witherspoon and wife Colleen, Justin Witherspoon, Laura Cabaniss, Allison Cabaniss; a great grandson, Sawyer Witherspoon; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Visitation: The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Friday at Cleveland Funeral Services & Crematory, and other times at the home.
Funeral Service: 11 a.m. Saturday at Sandy Run Baptist Church
Officiated By: The Rev. Andrew Rawls and the Rev. Andy Oliver
Burial: Sandy Run Baptist Church Cemetery
Funeral Home: Cleveland Funeral Services & Crematory is serving the family
Memorials: May be made to Sandy Run Baptist Church.

Cindy,
I am Dot Warlick's (who worked at M&J with Polly) daugher. You taught my son, Brandon, at Casar School one year and I remember that he loved you so much. Polly was a sweet person and I know she and Mother were such good friends. You have my deepest sympathy.
