RONALD WILSON

SHELBY-Ronald Franklin Wilson, 69, of 1925 New House Road, Shelby, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2016, at home.

Born Aug. 25, 1947, in Cleveland County, he was a son of the late Paris Franklin Wilson and Oris Millan Grigg Wilson. Ronald was a 1965 graduate of Crest High School, a 1967 graduate of Gardner-Webb College where he received A. A. degree, and a 1969 graduate of Pfeiffer College where he received an A.B. degree in chemistry. He also received an M.A.Ed. from Western Carolina University in 1975.

Ronald began his teaching career at Central Cleveland School as a science teacher from 1969-1975. He served as assistant principal at Burns High School from 1975-1978, served as principal at Lattimore Elementary School from 1978-1983, served as principal at Crest Middle School from 1983-1993. He finished up his career in education at Burns High School, where he serve as principal from 1993-2005. He retired from Cleveland County School after serving 36 years.

Ronald had many passions and interests. He was a member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church where he served the Lord in many capacities. He was part of the Transformer Sunday School Class, part of the Men's Ministry which included a men's prayer group and Bible study group. He was a Connect group leader and the Chef for the Truth & Tea Time Ministry for four years. He also served the Lord as a Gideon. Farming, gardening, and beekeeping were three things that he was very passionate about. He passed down his love of these things to his boys and his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Linda Ann Goforth Wilson; two sons and daughter-in-law, Chris and Jamie Wilson and Andy Wilson, all of Shelby. He had one twin brother, Don Wilson and sister-in-law Mildred of Shelby. He loved his three grandchildren, Jackson Wilson, Benjamin Wilson, and Olivia Grace Wilson.

The family will receive friends from 1 until 2:30 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 24, 2016, at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church.

The funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m., at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church, officiated by Dr. Eric Davis.

Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church, 198 Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church Road Shelby, NC 28152.

This man was a great inspiration to my daughter,if had not been for him as her principal i don't know if she would have been as successful ad she is today because he gave her so much encouragment to make her wanting to be something in life . He will surely be miss especially by me and my family RIP Ron

Our condolence to Mr Wilson's family. Mr Wilson had a big influence in my son's education. Thank you Mr Wilson!! You stood up for him and knew his high intelligence is far beyond what the school expected of him. May God's love be wrapped around the family.

I will miss my friend Ron's celebration of life, as I am out of state and can't get home in time. Ron was a friend. I'm so very sorry I will certainly miss him as will many others.
