Rosa Jeter

Rosa Mae Jeter, 103, passed away on Monday, March 13, 2018 at Wendover Hospice in Shelby.

She was born on November 15, 1914 in Boiling Springs, the eldest child of the late Samuel and Annie Brown Logan.

Rosa loved to learn and graduated from Cleveland High School. She married William Jeter Sr. and four children were born from this union. The family moved to New York State where Rosa remained until the 1980s. While living in New Your, Rosa attended Morrisania Presbyterian Church where she was a Deacon and active in church and community affairs. Rosa returned to Shelby and continued her religious affiliation at the Ryburn Memorial Presbyterian Church, where she remained a member until her passing.

Rosa was always easy to love. She was a loving and dedicated mother and family member. She was kind, had a beautiful smile and was always willing to help someone in need.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Jeter Sr.; four siblings, Valerie Stewart, Doris Maddox, Gordan Logan and Howard Logan; one daughter, Levonne Turner and three grandchildren, James Alston, William Jeter III and Renette Nadel.

Left to cherish Rosa's memory are her children, Reba Riker (Richard) of Shelby, NC, William Jeter Jr. of NY and Anita Thomas (Lindsay) of Tacoma, WA; her grandchildren, Brenda Jones of Shelby, NC, Larry Alston of OH, Melissa Turner, Osie Turner (Ebonie) and Shawni Turner all of from NY, Christopher Jeter of Baltimore, MD, Sophia Jeter-Adams, (Erwin) of NY, Olivia Thomas of Glendale, CA and Vanessa Thomas of Tacoma, WA; four sisters, Johnnie Hastings, Leonia Beam and Elsie Logan all from Shelby, NC and Christine Smith (Otis) of Pittsburgh, PA and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, March 18, 2018, at 1:30 p.m. at Ryburn Memorial Presbyterian Church.

Burial will follow at Webb Memorial Lawns.

The family will receive friends from 1 until 1:30 p.m. at the church on Sunday.
