Barry Vanas Obituary
2024. He was born April 13, 1958, in Ludington, the son of Leroy and Grace (McGinnis) Vanas.
Barry was an avid golfer, playing with all his buddies at Lakeside Links in Ludington. In recent
years he journeyed on mission trips to Honduras, where the most sophisticated chicken coop was
built for their feeding program. Barry had a servant's heart and loved to help others. He loved his
church family at the New Era Reformed Church, and cherished each relationship made. Barry is
in his happy place now, playing golf with Jesus.
Barry is survived by: his loving, Irish, wife, Mary Rose Vanas; sister, Kathie (George) Smith;
brother, Jeff (Robin) Vanas; cousins, Clancy (Geri) Dietz and Charlie (Janey) Dietz; daughter,
Nichole (Rick) Claude; son, Adam Lee (Sarah) Vanas; step-daughters, Michelle and Lizzie;
grandson, Isaiah; granddaughter, Aurora; and many extended Irish Family.
Barry was preceded in death by his parents, Leroy and Grace (McGinnis) Vanas.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Danish Brotherhood of Ludington Scholarship Fund,
1014 South Madison Street, Ludington, MI 49431.
Memorial services will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, January 20, 2024, at the New Era
Reformed Church, 4775 1st St, New Era, MI 49446. There will be a barbeque luncheon
immediately following services, the family encourages all to attend and share in the celebration
of Barry's life.

I will always remember Barry's recognizing me at the golf course after I moved back from 40 years away working. He was generous with his inclusiveness and friendship. I will miss him but will keep him in my thoughts all next season and beyond.

Barry was one of the craziest, happy, fun loving guy. I have heard many stories about Barry back in the day. Barry and my husband have been friends for many years Mary Rose you made him smile like I have never seen him do before you and your family are in our thoughts and prayers. Mary Rose, I am so sorry for your loss. Though you did not know of the Steve and Barry show at the Scottville Post office I am sure you heard of it. We had good fun at work. Barry helped me to find a friend of my dad's I thought I would never see again after my dad was killed in a car accident. So sorry we missed you guys when we stopped over. I sure wish you peace with this loss. Barry was one of a kind!

My dad was a very amazing father the love for my dad is infinite. I'm so glad he was able to spend time with my son Isaiah vanas. He would always say how handsome that lad was. Even know my dad and me were always butting heads, he always let me know he was there for me. It's hard for me to grasp that he is gone but now I know he is not suffering anymore and he is in heaven watching all of his loved ones. Probably teeing off right now or even spending time with his dad my grandpa Leroy vanas. I love you so much dad.

Barry was my sister-in-law Michelle’s stepdad. My brother David and Michelle travelled over from Northern Ireland to see Mary and Barry as many times as they could over the years. They always said that Barry was a lovely , kind and Christian man and they loved him. I would like to offer Mary and the extended family my sincere condolences. RIP
