Gary Vandervest Obituary

Gary William Vandervest, 78, passed away on Sunday, November 2nd, 2025, in Zephyrhills, Florida. Gary was born to his parents, George and Jean Vandervest, on October 16th, 1947, in Ludington, Michigan. There he lived with his parents and his sisters, Wanda and Margaret Vandervest. Gary graduated from Ludington High School in 1965.

After a brief time in the United States Army, Gary began a career at GTE/Verizon, where he worked for 26 years before retirement.

Gary married the love of his life, Pattie, on July 26th, 1968, in Ludington, Michigan. The two were inseparable and were together in matrimony for 57 beautiful years. Together, they lived their dream of moving to Florida.

He loved the outdoors, with fishing and hunting being his passions. Gary also loved to play cornhole and was a master of the game of billiards.

Gary is predeceased by his parents, George and Jean Vandervest; his sister, Wanda Vandervest; and his grandson, Kyle Vandervest.

He is survived by his loving wife, Pattie Vandervest; his sons, Troy (Prudie) Vandervest and Cass (Shari) Vandervest; his daughter, Trisha Mills (Todd Sorensen); his granddaughter, Mandi (Joel) Bates; and sister, Margaret and brother-in-law Brett Johnson.

As per Gary's wishes, cremation has taken place, and no services are to be held.
