Mary Perkins Obituary
Mary Ann began her teaching career in Swartz Creek in special education and later spent many years shaping young minds as a fourth-grade teacher with Ludington Area Schools. Her dedication to her students and excitement for learning left a lasting impression on all who knew her.
She is survived by her sister, Diane (Gene) Shank; nephew, Thad (Jen) Shank; niece, Megan Maltbie; and four great-nieces: Julia and Erin Maltbie, and Madi and Kate Shank - along with many friends, former students, and kindred spirits.
Arrangements were entrusted to Oak Grove Funeral Home of Ludington.

My wonderful life long friendship with Mary Ann began when she became my big sister in the sorority I joined at MSU. We skied Aspen and Stowe together (she was a great skier, I was not); we played bridge, danced and drank at watering holes with many friends. We talked and laughed for over 50 years about everything. When I moved to Massachusetts after college, she visited me on many occasions, once bringing her beloved black lab and Newfoundland dogs with her. She was kind, intelligent, and deeply involved with the education and welfare of her students. She was loyal, honest and an absolute treasure to know. Her absence will be profoundly missed but she had a strong faith that the next level of her journey would be a better place filled with light and unfettered joy. She is there now and the sadness I feel is lightened with the hope our spirits will connect again in that place.
