James Hendrixson Obituary
James "Jim" Robert Hendrixson, 71
Jim Hendrixson, 71, of Osburn, ID, beloved husband, brother, father, grandfather, and uncle, passed away on September 27, 2025, at Shoshone Medical in Kellogg, ID. Jim was born on April 23, 1954, in Wayland, MI, to parents, Robert James and Berdine (Chapple) Hendrixson. Jim grew up in Wayland, Michigan and graduated at Wayland High School where he excelled in football, basketball, and tennis. He then attended and graduated from Grand Valley State University where he continued his love for football and tennis. He was a talented and gifted athlete in every sport he pursued. He graduated with a BS degree in Urban and Regional Land Use Planning.
After college graduation, Jim discovered the Pacific Northwest during a month-long hitchhiking adventure with his good friend Dave Mack. This led him to various jobs in planning and zoning that included the City of Jackson, WY, City of Pasadena, CA, and the City of Sandpoint, ID. He was also a high school sports official for over 14 years. It was through his time officiating that he met his wife Susan who was living in Shoshone County. This meeting was the focus of his decision in moving to the Silver Valley. For 25 years, he and Susan created a home filled with love, happiness, and wonderful memories. His planning and zoning career led him into real estate, and he became an agent and broker for Hendrixson Real Estate in Wallace, ID, aka the "Jimmy Hendrixson Real Estate Experience." He found his niche in real estate that lasted over 22 years.
Jim's favorite things included spending time with family, fly fishing, and tinkering in the "shop." The "shop" was the hang out spot, and will continue to be, for family and friends and required a degree just to turn on all his creative lighting configuration. His semi-retirement hobbies included the stock market, keeping up to date on world conspiracy theories, watching every sport that exists, weekly "dates" with Susan to the transfer station and experimenting with freeze drying and dehydrating foods for our end of the world food supply. Without a doubt, Jim loved the Lord and his faith as a Christian was strong and steadfast.
Jim is survived by his beloved wife and best friend, Susan Hendrixson, of Osburn, ID; his daughters Laurel Hendrixson, Adrienne Hendrixson-Metcalf (Jake); two stepchildren, Jessica (Seth) Patton, and Jake Johnson; three wonderful grandchildren, Miles Hendrixson, and Leyton, and Knoxen Patton. Jim came into Jessica's life as a stepfather when she was 9 years old. It was more than just a title. He took on the role as a father and filled her life with knowledge, love, support, and encouragement. His relationship with his son-in-law Seth, was more than a family connection. It was an unbreakable bond that was cemented by their shared passions, mutual respect, and love. To his grandsons Leyton (Chum A) and Knoxen (Chum B), he will forever be known as "papa."
He is also survived by his sister Jan Hendrixson Allman of Grand Rapids, MI; a brother Jack Hendrixson, of Temple, NH; and many nieces and nephews that adored him dearly. In addition to his parents, Jim is preceded in death by his brother, Jeff, and his sister Joyce Bellows.
His passing has left a void in the hearts of his family, friends and many more whose lives that were touched by him. Although Jim's physical presence may no longer grace our lives, his spirit will continue to inspire and uplift us. May his memory be a blessing.
