Charles Winzer Obituary
Mr. Winzer was born in Claiborne Parish to Elvia Major Winzer and Charlie Winzer on December 24, 1925 and left this earthly life during the early morning hours of November 22, 2010. Mr. Winzer moved to Minden during his teen years and obtained employment as a brakeman with the Kansas City Southern (KCS)Railroad and remained there until his retirement. He was an integral part of the brotherhood of KCS brakemen in and around the Minden area. He was married to Pearlene Hall Winzer Tobin and after the dissolution of that marriage he married Pinky Watley Winzer in 1957.
Survivors include his children, Charles W. Winzer (Gwendolyn) of Phoenix, AZ, Theron W. Winzer (Bertha) and Pearlie J. Winzer both of Minden, LA; Janett L. Winzer of Washington, DC, Willie M. Winzer of Atlanta, GA; Etienna R. Winzer (Odona) of Land O'Lakes, FL.; 8 grandchildren, Sandra Y. Winzer Williams (Derrick), Kimulet W. Winzer, Charles W. Winzer III, Stephanie L. Winzer, Courtney G. Winzer, Adrienne Winzer, Andrew and Alexus; 6 great grandchildren, Darryl M. Williams, Jazmyn L. Winzer, Jaida L. Winzer, Deandra M. Williams, Gabrielle G. Winzer and Brelyn L. Winzer - Jackson; three sisters, Elvira Winzer Sykes, Mervell Winzer Bracewell, and Lorean Winzer Hankinson; two brothers, Mattereal Winzer (Rose) and Auteria Winzer (Yvonne); two sisters-in- law, Earnice Winzer and Gradie Hall Bursey; one brother-in-law, John Watley (Mary); and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held Friday December 3, 2010 in the Kennon's Mortuary Chapel from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Family Hour will be at 6 p.m. at Mt. Zion C.M.E. Church in Minden. Services and other arrangements are under the direction of Kennon's Mortuary. Email condolences may be sent to [email protected]

We just learned today December 6, 2010 in the Shreveport Times about Charles death.
From Mollie & Tom Winzer's grand-children and great-grand children:
Gloria Marks, Claude Underwood, Jr., Wanda Underwood, Alice Wright, Faye Wright, Paulie Prejean and Misty Wright, Monique Adams, Yvonne Moore, Gary Moore, Tina Moore, Henry Clayton Moore, Edward Adams, Gloria Marks, II and Monica Marks.
We will always remember his pleasant ways and how he made us feel so much at home whenever we visited for the family reunions at Lake Bissoneaux.
