Pea Ridge - Dorris Ann Mounce Brewer Ozkan went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, April 15, 2021 at the age of 86, after a 4 year battle with a debilitating stroke. She became a Christian at a young age and continued studying her Bible daily. She was a member of Christ the King Lutheran Church, Bentonville, AR. She worked in the church food pantry and was part of the Stephens Ministry in Northwest Arkansas. A Celebration of her Life was held on April 18, 2021 at First Baptist Church Pea Ridge, AR with Pastor Patrick Meador officiating and a loving tribute was given by her dear friend Billie Bigelow.

Dorris Ann was born in Shreveport, LA on September 8, 1934 to Charlie E. and Dorris Givens Mounce. She grew up in Shreveport, LA and was a member of Highland Baptist Church. She attended Southfield School and graduated from Byrd High School in 1952. She attended Baylor University, in Waco, TX before transferring to Centenary Collage in Shreveport, where she earned her Bachelor's Degree in Education. She earned her Master's Degree from Louisiana Tech University and later a Certification in Special Education. She taught many subjects in Caddo, Bossier, Webster Parishes in Louisiana and as well as in Northwest Arkansas. She was a dedicated teacher who loved teaching. After retiring, she taught English as a Second Language to Adults. While at Centenary Collage, she worked in

The Little Theater designing, making and painting back drops for plays. She was a member of The Demoiselle Club, 1954, a Lady of the Court in The Holiday in Dixie Cotillion Club, 1955, and a member of the Chi Omega Sorority.

Dorris Ann was very gregarious and never met a stranger. She was a talented artist and explored all kinds of art forms and mediums. She studied Ikebana and other floral designs. She was an avid reader, spoke several languages and a world traveler - even walked along the Great Wall of China. She enjoyed different cuisines, she was a Master Gardener, loved to study about different cultures, did Tai Chi, loved jigsaw puzzles, cards and board games. She loved working in her garden, watching her many birds, raising Pigmy goats and loved her fur babies Koala and Chloe.

Dorris Ann and her late husband, Lewis Brewer loved all kinds of music, were very talented dancers and provided dance demonstrations for a Shreveport dance studio. She and Lewis had their Real Estate licenses, owned and operated VR Business Brokers in Shreveport. After retiring, they moved to Little Flock, AR.

In later life, she painted bird and butterfly houses and other wonderful wooden projects her talented husband, Selcan Ozkan, handmade.

Dorris Ann was preceded in death by her parents; husbands William Lewis Brewer Jr. and Selcan Ozkan; a stepson, William (Billy) Lewis Brewer III; and a grandson, Andrew Lewis Brewer. She is survived by her children, Dorris Annette Brewer Beard of Pea Ridge, AR, Michael G. Brewer of Northwest Arkansas, Charlie Mounce Brewer (Belinda) of Pea Ridge, AR, stepson, David Brewer (Jo Ellen) of Georgia, stepdaughter, Arzu Ozkan Evans (Eric) of California; two sisters, Kay Mounce Poolman (John) of Lenexa, Kansas, Marcia Mounce of Shreveport, LA; 23 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews. Special friends: Carol Brown and Rhoda Bigner of Shreveport, Billie and Don Bigelow of Rogers, Dr. Ray and Ann Carolyn Reid of Tampa, FL.
