Helen Childs Pittman

Shreveport, LA - Mrs. Helen Childs Pittman, 81, beloved mother, grandmother and friend passed away on Friday, September 18, 2015, after a brief illness. Graveside services will begin at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 20, at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery in Minden, LA. Officiating will be Rev. Dr. Wayne Carter of St. Mark's Episcopal Cathedral.

Mrs. Pittman was raised in Springhill, LA and graduated from Springhill High School in 1952. After attending the Dallas Methodist Hospital School of Nursing she started her 52 year nursing career as a Registered Nurse in the Shreveport area.

She is survived by her daughter, Stephanie Pittman Taylor and husband, Barry; son, Edward Blaine Pittman, II; grandchildren Anna Claire Taylor and Edward Blaine Pittman, III; and friends, Eunice DeBrow, Sandra May, Laura Boyd and Kitty and Bill Taylor.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Dr. McSharma, Dr. Ghattas, Dr. Jonathan Davis and Dr. Robert Masingil.

Helen was a wonderful and nurturing nursing mentor early in my career. She was one of the kindest women I knew, and made my first years in Shreveport feel like home.
