Jeanne Stamper Moore

SHREVEPORT, LA - Mrs. Jeanne Stamper Moore, born August 30, 1927 died at Willis Knighton Pierremont on Thursday, July 26, 2007. Visitation will be held at Osborn Funeral Home on Friday, July 27th from 6:30 until 8:30 p.m. Memorial services will begin at 3 p.m. on Saturday, July 28, 2007 at First Presbyterian Church chapel. Officiating will be Rev. Bryan McDowell of First Presbyterian Church.

Mrs. Moore was a resident of Shreveport most of her life. She graduated from Byrd High School in 1943, attended Judson College in Marion, AL from 1943 to 1945 and graduated from LSU with a Bachelor of Science in education in 1947. Mrs. Moore taught school at all levels, elementary, high school and college, including Newman High School in New Orleans and Centenary College in Shreveport. She was a lifelong member of First Presbyterian Church where she served as Deacon and Elder. Mrs. Moore had a passion for the American Indian and Mayan Indian culture and archaeology. She loved her group of friends that traveled to Colorado annually, as well as her bridge group that met weekly.

Mrs. Moore was a member of the Junior League, Sequella Club, Louisiana Preservation Alliance, charter member of the Smithsonian National Museum of the American Indian, Louisiana State Museum and Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority at LSU.

Mrs. Moore was preceded in death by her husband, F. A. Moore, Jr., her mother and father, Sudie and George M. Stamper and by her two sisters, Dorothy Stamper Wilson and Elizabeth Stamper Tucker. She is survived by her two sons, George Stamper Moore and F. A. Moore III and his wife Karen; grandchildren, Kelley Moore Tiffany and her husband, David and Jeffery Adams Moore; great-grandchildren, Madeline Claire Tiffany and Catelynn Moore Tiffany; nephew, Michael Wilson; nieces, Susie Canfield, Cathy Walvoord, Carol Overdyke and Nancy Rudd.

Pallbearers will be F. A. Moore III, George Stamper Moore, Michael Wilson, Charles Canfield, Jeff Moore and David Tiffany.

Honorary pallbearer will be Paul McBride.

The family requests that any memorials be made to West Dallas Community Church, 2215 Canada Drive, Dallas, TX 75212 or First Presbyterian Church, 900 Jordan, Shreveport, LA 71101.
