Joe Raymond Rasco, Sr.

TYLER, TX - Lieutenant Colonel Rasco, United States Air Force (Retired) passed away at Azalea Trails Assisted Living Community on Monday, February 8, 2010. Colonel Rasco was born January 12, 1919 to the late Willie and Ida May Adams Rasco in Hico, Texas.

At the age of 19, Colonel J. Rasco married Barbara Caroline Ricks and joined the Army Air Corps serving throughout World War II. After a brief separation from the service, Colonel Rasco joined the U.S. Air Force at the beginning of the Korean Conflict, completing a tour in Vietnam, and remaining in the service as a decorated logistics officer until retiring at Barksdale Air Force Base, Shreveport, LA, in 1973. His faithful wife remained by his side until her unexpected death in 1983. Colonel Rasco stayed in Shreveport until moving to Tyler, in 2008, to be near his eldest son.

Colonel Rasco will be buried Saturday, February 13, 2010 next to his beloved bride in a family graveside service at Forest Park West Cemetery in Shreveport under the direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home.

The Rasco family would like to thank the loving people at Azalea Trails and Heart to Heart Hospice for the wonderful care they provided our father in his final days.

Colonel Rasco is survived by 15 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and sons, Joe Rasco, Jr., Tyler, TX., Mike Rasco, Monroe, LA, David Rasco, Pacific Grove, CA., Edward Rasco, Tucson, AZ., and daughter Rebecca Rasco, Shreveport, LA. Stewart Family Funeral Home
