John was my Dad's younger brother. My folks lived in Connecticut while I was going to school in Dallas. I will always remember and be grateful for they way John and his family welcomed a long hair, bell bottom/moccasin wearing SMU liberal freshman in to their home over holidays. Even though I suspect I was a bit of a curiosity, they treated me like one of their own. I always considered them my adopted parents. I will always remember the kindnesses he extended to me and will forever be grateful for the opportunity to be a small part of his huge life. I will miss him, but will also be comforted by dozens of vivid memories whenever I think of him. Say hi to Dad.

A life well lived by such a lovely gentleman. My deepest condolences to the Palmer family as you say goodbye and celebrate the life of Mr. Palmer. I have such fond memories of both your parents and know they are dancing in heaven together. Prayers for peace and comfort...with love, Sally Dykes Smith

John Palmer was a wildcatter. His enthusiastic optimism lead him to believe the next well would be a big strike. His intelligence and wit made him a joy to be around. I always had an admiration and respect for the man.
