I was just thinking about Mrs. Carmody and thinking she was probably gone. - I saw her before I left Shreveport in 2009. - It was a random meeting, but I'm so glad we got to speak. She was my first grade teacher in 1961, so Mrs. Carmody is the one who taught me how to read. Moving forward, I always had a love for reading, and have done a fair amount of writing. I wrote a column for the Shreveport Times for about 14 years and also wrote one for the Sarasota Herald Tribune for about 10. And I'm working on a book. But I will never forget her and how she impacted my life. - Rest in peace, faithful servant. .

Miss Carmody taught me many things about life as she sat at the head of my lunch table at Southfield School many years ago. I´m still grateful for that
