Julian B. "Jay" Lafitte

SHREVEPORT, LA - Mr. Jay Lafitte passed away on September 29, 2011 after a lengthy illness. He was born in Mansfield, LA on June 10, 1940. He grew up in Many, LA and resided in Shreveport, LA the majority of his life.

Jay served in the Army National Guard of Louisiana from 1963 to 1969. He was a 32nd degree Mason and a member of the El Karubah Shrine.

A longtime active member of Kingston Road. Baptist Church, formerly Morningside Baptist Church, Jay served on the staff in various capacities.

Jay was preceded in death by his parents, Johnny and Mattie Bell LeFeat.

He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Jimmie Ruth Lafitte; his children, Scott Solice and Kim, Kevin LeFeat and Sonya, Michael Solice and Jackie, Kimberly Murray and Ken, Keith LeFeat and Mona, Cynthia Terry and Mike, Kristina Boie and Stephen; brother Billie Ray LeFeat; sisters Johnnie Belle LeFeat and Wanda Sue Ritter;17 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the caring staff of Heritage Manor South.

Honoring Jay as pallbearers will be grandsons Daniel M. Vines, Danny L. LeFeat, Ryan S. Solice, Nathan A. Vines, Jordan B. Solice and Korey L. LeFeat.

Honorary pallbearers are his sons and sons-in-law.

Services will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, October 3, 2011 at Rose-Neath Southside with Rev. Leland Crawford, Rev. Trey Lewis and Rev. Woody Janise. Graveside services will follow at Florien Cemetery, Florien, LA at 1 p.m. Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 2, 2011 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Rose-Neath Southside.
