Katherine Stringer Obituary

Mrs. Katherine W. Stringer, Sr.

Shreveport, LA - Mrs. Katherine W. Stringer, Sr., 62, died peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday, May 16, 2018 after a long battle with cancer, with her loving husband by her side. Katherine was born April 30, 1956, in Shreveport, Louisiana to the parentage of Alf and Leola H. Walker.

Katherine was a 1974 graduate of Booker T. Washington High School of Shreveport and a graduate of Southern University- Shreveport. In 1977, she married her true love Willie Stringer, Jr. and to this union two daughters were born Cheryl and Katherine Jr. (Tiger). Katherine was preceded in death by her daughter, Cheryl Stringer, parents Alf and Leola H. Walker and brothers Charles Hawkins, Johnny Walker and Patrick A. Walker.

"Pudden" or "Pudden Pie," as she was affectionally known to her family and friends never met a stranger. She was truly a people's person and always had a giving heart. Her legacy of selflessness is displayed in her decision to donate her body to cancer research in hopes of finding a cure.

Katherine was an entrepreneur at heart and owned several businesses. She was the Owner/Operator of Hayes and Stringer Florist and The Queensborough Thrift Shop. She was very passionate about the floral business and took great pride in providing a place for the community to have an enjoyable shopping experience. Katherine was a wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend- truly a gem to all. Katherine is survived by 8 brothers, 3 sisters and her "one and only", Lorena Levine who never left her side during the last 3 months of her precious life. She leaves to cherish her memory, her beloved husband and friend, Willie Stringer, Jr. and daughter Katherine (Pierre) Davis all of Shreveport, Louisiana.

The Stringer family would like to thank Dr. Manish Dhawan at Highland Clinic in Shreveport, Louisiana, Dr. Anil Sood at MD Anderson in Houston, Texas and the wonderful staff of Aime Hospice Care in Shreveport. A very special thanks to Silena and Jessica for their compassionate care of Katherine, whom they referred to her as their "Princess Warrior". At Mrs. Stringer's request no services or memorial will be held. All donations can be made to https://www.gofundme.com/kstringersr.

Ms Katherine was a sweet, lovely lady. I shopped
at her flower shop for years and she made up
many georgeous arrangements for me to put on
my precious mother's grave. She was as beautiful inside as she was outside! I am so sorry for your
loss. May God's comfort be with all of her family.

Coach Stringer and family, I can't begin to tell you how sorry I am about the loss of Mrs. Katherine. I have so many fond memories of her and the girls coming to my hospitality room at Bossier High. She was always so nice to me. So many times she and the girls would come in with a beautiful bouquet of flowers. She always was so gracious and so kind. Her smiles were contagious.
Love you and praying for you,
Mrs. A (Judy Anderson, Bossier High)
