Nico and Family:
I'm very sadden to learn about the death of your father. Was informed of this by Chuck Baker at church today. Louis was a very dear friend. He was always a very avid supporter of all the progams at Oak Terrace. I can still picture him shooting that two handed set shot during the faculty basketball games. He will be missed very much.
Give my best to all of your family members. You will always be in our prayers. Give my best to your mother and let her know she in our thoughts.
Stay in touch.

Nico, Elsa, Rose and Family,
Our thoughts and prayers go out to each of you during this very difficult time. Mr. Van Thyn was such a loyal fan of the Woodlawn Knights. I remember him attending the Woodlawn High football practices and games. He always made us feel special. I last saw him and Rose at the 1960s Woodlawn High School Football Reunion. He and Rose were there for the wonderful reunion that we are still talking about and that Nico had planned so well.
Mr. Van Thyn and his family have been such good friends to me and my family for so many years. They have been there to help us and so many others in the community.
Last year my son, John, came home one weekend from Centenary. He could not stop talking about this wonderful couple who had talked to his class about the Holocaust. He was so moved. I asked him the name of this couple. He said their names were Louis and Rose Van Thyn.
I will say a special prayer tonight for Louis Van Thyn. There is another Angel in Heaven tonight watching over us. Love to Louis and his family. Kirby Ramsey and Family

Nico and Elsa,
I have many fond memories of your dad. His love of Woodlawn and the coaches there was very special. Our trip to Amsterdam with our "own personal travel guide" was a true history lesson. John and I both send best wishes and Love to all.

Dear Mrs. Van Thyne, We just received the news today. Every since we lost our son, you and Louis were able to help sooth our pain and I would leave your house knowing you "knew how I felt" and somehow that would get me through the hardest times. I wish I could give to you what you gave to me. Louis will be missed by our family. God Bless.

Dear Rose, Nico, Elsa and families,
My heart and prayers go out to all of you during this sad time. I have lots of great memories of Mr. Van Thyn and all of your family. He was a special person and touched many lives during his lifetime. I have lost both of my parents in less than two years and I feel your pain. I feel so lucky to have known him and all of the family. Elsa, I send a big hug and hope to talk with you soon.
Love to all,

To the family of Mr. Van Thyn-My daughter and I had the great pleasure of meeting Mr. and Mrs. Van Thyn 9 years ago when she was doing a report on the Holocaust in middle school. You mother graciously invited us to their home and while there we also met your father. They both left a lasting impression on us and we have always considered it a blessing that we met them. May you and your mother find the peace you need to get you thru this difficult time.

To the Family and Friends of Louis Van Thyn I would like to offer my sincere sympathy to each of you on his loss. I worked across the street at a body shop on Mansfield Rd. from where Mr. Louis worked all those years and use to be in awe of his stories of yesteryear and also the love he had for his family. He was a good, honest, funny and lovable man and I too shall miss him. May he rest in peace now and may each of you find your peace with his loss. God Bless All !!
