Marilyn Palmer Obituary
Shreveport - Marilyn G. Palmer passed away on Saturday, June 16, at her home in Shreveport, LA surrounded by her loving family. A memorial service will be held at Broadmoor United Methodist Church on Wednesday, June 20, at 10 am.
Marilyn was born on April 9, 1926 in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. She attended Liberty High School and graduated from Moravian College in 1948. In 1949, she married John T. Palmer and joined him in Shreveport, Louisiana where he was a geologist with Stanolind Oil and Gas.
Marilyn enjoyed life to its' fullest and loved to travel. She had a quick wit, a big heart, and a true love of laughter. She had many friends with whom she loved to host in Shreveport, Lake Bistineau, Santa Rosa Beach Florida, and Little Cayman Island in the Caribbean. Marilyn volunteered for many charities including The Association for the Blind and Meals on Wheels. She served on the board of Southfield School. She was an expert card player, she enjoyed playing Bridge, Mahjongg, and Gin Rummy. She was an avid reader and news enthusiast, and was interested in government and politics all over the world.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents Warren W. Grube and Gertrude Grube.
She is survived by her loving husband of 69 years, John T. Palmer; her sister, Barbara Richards Brannon; Children and spouses, Barbara and Robert Pou, Ricky and Mona Palmer; SuSu and Ken Whitehurst; along with ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Marilyn was a wonderful mother to her three children and took great pride in all of their many talents and accomplishments. She adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who all loved their Mimi.
She lived a long and exciting life and will be greatly missed by all of us.
The family would like to offer special thanks to all her wonderful caregivers, especially Dr. James M. Jackson, Jessie Clark, Janet Clark, Azzie Clark, Kallie Olezene; Ruby Robbins and Brianna Rivera of Home Instead; and Michelle Lane of Christus Hospice.
In lieu of flowers, please consider giving to Broadmoor United Methodist Church, to the Little Cayman National Trust (92 Blossom Village Drive, Little Cayman Island, Cayman Islands KT-3-2500) or to the charity of your choice.

Dear Johnny. Stan and I were so shocked and saddened to hear of Marilyn's passing. She was a wonderful woman and we loved her dearly. We have so many memories of fun times spent with her.
