Mary McBroom Obituary

Mary Jean Bourgeois McBroom

Mary Jean Bourgeois McBroom, 60 passed away on Thursday, June 16, 2016. A service will be held at 10:00 am at Norris Ferry Community Church 10509 Norris Ferry Road, Shreveport, LA, on Tuesday, June 21, 2016.

Jeannie was born and raised in Westwego, Louisiana and a resident of Shreveport, Louisiana for 25 years. She was an active member of Norris Ferry Community Church. She joyfully served in the nursery and loved her community. Jeannie was a loving wife, stepmother, sister, godmother, aunt and friend. Jeannie accepted our Lord as her Savior. She loved babies, family and friends like they were her own children. She was fiery, passionate, and she loved well. Words cannot express the thoughtfulness and consideration of others that Jeannie embodied. She had a way to make you feel special. The moment you met Jeannie, she greeted you with a warm hug and kiss, and always made you feel at home. Proverbs 17:17 states, "A friend loves at all times." This best describes our Jeannie.

Jeannie was preceded in death by her parents, Lance and Eloise Bourgeois. She is survived by her husband of 15 years, Kenneth W. McBroom, daughters, Shelly McBroom Raley, husband Clint, and Tonya McBroom Riley, husband Clif; grandchildren, Savannah and Parker Raley, Kate-Lyn and Aiden Riley; Sister, Connie Bourgeois Morales, husband Lester J. Morales, Sr.; brother, Gary Bourgeois; nieces, Melissa Morales Hebert, Alaina Bourgeois; nephews, L.J. Morales, Michael Bourgeois, and Eric Bourgeois, and four great nieces and nephews that she loved as her grandchildren.

The family requests that memorials be made in lieu of flowers to Heart of Hope Ministry, www.heartofhopeministry.com. The family would like to express sincere appreciation to the NFCC Pastor, Tracy Graham, and their church community for the overwhelming support.

There will be a graveside service on Friday, June 24, 2016 at Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Gretna, Louisiana, time TBA.

So sad to hear of Jeanies passing. She was so full of life and a fun person. We enjoyed the Mardi Gras festivities with her and loved working with her at the auto auction. She will be missed by all. Our hearts, prayers and his go out to her family. Love,

News of Jeannie passing broke my heart. She was my dental patient and was just in office last week. She was one of those people that when I saw they were coming in that I looked forward to seeing! She always met and left me with a huge hug and we would laugh and joke the entire time! I will greatly miss her smiling face, she lit up the room! Prayers to the family, you had a wonderful Mom, Wife, Grandma!

I met Jeanie over 20 yrs ago while working at an Auto Auction in Shreveport. I just would like to express to her family that I am aware how heart broken you are . I have not seen her in several years but I always ask about her through a mutual friend. I hope Kenny and her family can work through this grief with the help of God.
