Sammy Anthony Fulco
KATY, TX - Our Lord took Sammy Anthony Fulco home on May 1, 2010. He was 83 years of age, born in Shreveport, LA, to Samuel Rosario Fulco and Vivian Julia Lemoine.
He was a loving husband to Patricia Ruth Kelley for 43 years; a loving father to Faye and Ronnie Pembo, Neal and Anna Mae Fulco, Teresa and Guy Gibson, Lisa Fulco, and Dianne and James Callender; 11 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and a loving brother to Anthony (Buck) and Joan Fulco. He was a loyal friend to all.
Sammy graduated from Fair Park High School in Shreveport and served in U.S. Army Air Corps Reserve in 1944, then the U.S. Navy from 1945 to 1946. Sammy loved music and was a professional drummer. He attended the University of Arkansas, Mississippi College, Devry Tech, ITT, and Radio Announcers School. In Hollywood, he acted and did stunts. He began his main career in live television in Shreveport for KTAL-TV and helped start KDOG-TV26 in Houston. Sammy served as communications and safety officer for Western Oceanics of North America. His main interest was in experimental aircraft where he was a builder and a pilot. He flew and taught for a young eagle's program in the Houston and Katy area, where he taught over 100 youngsters free in order to promote their interest in aviation. He sang choir for 25 years at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church in Katy. Sammy wanted to especially thank Dr. Bing and his staff for the special friendship and care over the many years. Also, thanks to Resolutions Hospice and health care staff, M.D. Anderson, and other physicians for their care.
Visitation was held from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 6, 2010, at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church, in Katy, Texas, where a rosary was recited at 10:30 a.m. with Deacon William C. Wagner reciting. Mass was celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 6, 2010, at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church, with Rev. John Kha Tran, Celebrant. A committal service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 11, 2010, at the Forest Park East Cemetery, in Shreveport, Louisiana, with Rev. Msgr. Earl V. Provenza officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated to the St. Bartholomew Catholic Church Building Fund, 5356 Eleventh Street, Katy, Texas 77493.
Sammy's final wishes to all are "God bless you and keep you. Let His face shine upon you and give you peace." Funeral services held under
