I am Shayla's step cousin and didn't find out until November 3rd at football game that was for my grade. I found out that the things with pictures of people meant the person was dead.
I brought into tears.

It was an honor to know and love on her for a season. Shayla was a light in my life when my life screamed of darkness.

I can't start to imagine the questions, the hurt and pain you're all going through. You've all been in our thoughts and prayers during this time. Shayla was a gorgeous gift from God, and will ALWAYS be remembered. Remember all the little moments, because they will get you through this along with a community of friends and family. When the rain drops fall, the sun shines on you or (as we say in our family) you see a beautiful butterfly just know that it's Shayla letting you know that she's still with you in heart and soul.

Shayshay, you will be missed but never forgotten.
One of the best memories I have of you was when I took you railfanning when you were 10, The excitement and look on your face was priceless when the big train came by and you were jumping around waving..
You have a lot of family and friends (some you know and some you never met) who will miss you girl.

Left to cherish her memory are her father Owen Carson and grandmother Nelda Carson, along with numerous other members of her paternal family. May she rest in peace, her memory will always be a blessing.

It is with heavy heart that I see that this wonderful sweetheart of child was taken home. I had the privilege of living next door to her while she was growing up at her grandmothers house. She had turned into such a beautiful young woman. Thank you to the many people that were involved in her life. I hope you realize what a blessing you received for knowing and caring for her.
