Susan Allen Obituary

Susan McGee Allen

Shreveport, LA - Susan McGee Allen "Grammy"

Some of the definitions in the Urban dictionary for grandma are: the only person in the family that knows how to cook; your favorite relative; gives the best advice; always there for you; HELPFUL and spoils you rotten. All of these definitions sum up our "Grammy" and even more. Grammy was born into this world as a care taker. Her overly generous spirit and sense of humor is what made her such a special person to everyone. If anyone, anywhere needed something she was the first one there lending a hand.

Grammy had a very creative side and over the years followed many different outlets for her creativity. Two of her special passions were home decorating and gardening. For years she helped the customers of Extra Touch Homes (the company that she co-owned and operated with her husband Harry) trudge through all of the design decisions to turn the dream of a house into a home.

Grammy was the queen of repurposing! She could take anything and turn it into something beautiful. She literally lived the saying, one man's trash is another man's treasure. She created many keepsakes that we will all treasure.

But the most precious gift of all was the love she shared with all of her family and friends. She will leave a tremendous void in this world that will be felt by many including her husband Harry, children Bubba and Sandy, Rebecca and Mark, Burt and Beth; two special nieces Diane and Debbie. As precious as we were to her, the most important people in this world were her grandchildren: Sarah, Matthew, Logan, Cindy, Michael, Jason and Kendall.

Family members who will be welcoming Grammy home are: her parents, Chet and Anne McGee; siblings, Ouida, Clyde, Jack and Barbara.

God waved his magic wand and made it all better!

Please join us at a Memorial Service on May 19th at 6:30 pm at the Grace Community United Methodist Church, 9400 Ellerbe Road, Shreveport, Louisiana.

Susan and I were classmates at Byrd and the best of friends. We were the fearsome five and had so much fun doing high school girl things.
She was a lovely person from a lovely Mom and Dad. I know she will be greatly missed.
