Thomas Parrish Obituary

Thomas Randall Parrish

Thomas Randall Parrish, 64, passed away on Saturday, February 25th after a long, courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Logansport, Louisiana on July 24, 1952 to Thomas E. and Mary Parrish. Randy was a fighter and fought hard to the very end (2 Timothy 4:7). He passed away peacefully at home.

As per Randy's wishes, a memorial service will be held from 11 am to Noon on Saturday, March 4, 2017 at Red River South, 250 Red River South Marina Rd., Bossier City, LA 71112, followed immediately by a celebration of life with food and fellowship for friends and family from 12 to 3 pm.

Randy lived life to the fullest every single day and certainly cast a wide net when it came to those he touched in life. He was larger than life and the life of the party. His wife, Patti, was his soul mate and remained by his side through thick and thin.

He loved life. He was involved in many sports activities while at Linwood Junior High and at Woodlawn High School in Shreveport, LA. Playing in the winning AAA state championship game as a safety (#22) in 1969 with Joe Ferguson as quarterback was a highlight of his high school career. His senior year he was named to the All City team.

He loved the lake and was an avid fisherman. He loved NASCAR and fast cars and racing cars. He loved anything fun that made people happy and made them laugh. He loved togetherness and being in the presence of those he loved most. He always made everyone feel welcome and loved.

He was a strong man, very stubborn and hard headed. He was a perfectionist and always strived to do his best and be his best at everything he did from the time he was a boy until it was time for the Lord to call him home.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas E. and Mary Parrish, and his sister Deborah.

He is survived by his loving and fiercely devoted wife of 31 years, Patti Sanders Parrish and his two children that adored him, Stacie and Ryan Parrish and his son-in-law, Alan Shaw; by his brother, Terry Parrish and wife Shaaron and his sisters, Sue Ann Carden, Nancy Cogburn and husband Kenneth, and Melinda Harrington; by incredible in-laws, Mary and Tommy Sanders, brothers-in-law Dece and Bobby Sanders, and sister-in-law Tammy Lachapelle and Pete, and many loving nieces and nephews and friends. He loved his precious furbabies, Sadie and Dude and his grand puppies, Grigsby, Bailey, Sydney, and Stella.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations in Randy's honor to either the Shriners Burn Hospital for Children, 815 Market Street, Galveston, Texas 77550 or the Percy R. Johnson Burn Foundation (earmarked for the burn camp), 1501 E Kings Hwy - Box 610, Shreveport, LA 71130.
