William Webb Obituary

William Lamar "Bud" Webb

William Lamar "Bud" Webb, age 72, of Lantana, Texas peacefully passed away with his family by his side on Saturday, October 4, 2014, after a courageous battle with ALS. He was born on February 12, 1942 in Shreveport, Louisiana. He graduated from Fair Park High School in 1960. Upon graduation from High School he attended Centenary College of Louisiana. He spent most of his career working as a consultant in the insurance benefits field and worked for Progency Marketing for 17 years, where he served as Senior Vice President of Sales.

On many weekends you would find Bud tending the barbecue for anyone and everyone who wanted to stop by. His door was always open to share good food, a good story and always lots of laughter. His smile was contagious and he always exemplified positivity in all situations, despite his health issues. Even in the most difficult of times, he continued to be an inspiration to others in how he lived his life and continues to do so with his passing.

He is survived by his wife and longtime love of 37 years, Lisbeth Webb; son, Doug Webb and his children, Austin, Tanner and Parker Webb; son, Brad Webb and his wife Rachel and their children, Lexi and Andrew Webb; daughter, Kim Smith and her husband, Keith and their children, Connor and Brandon Smith; daughter, Wendy Brown and her husband, Stephen and their children, Kyle and Ryan Brown; daughter, Brittani Webb; sister, Margaret Pittari and her husband Tony; brother, George Webb and his wife Valerie; many nieces and nephews and his best friend, companion and dog, Steeley Dan. He was preceded in death by his parents, William M. and Viola M. (Kennedy) Webb.

There will be a memorial service for friends and family to celebrate his life at 3:00 pm on Saturday, October 11, 2014 at the Restland-Coppell Funeral Home Chapel with Dennis Wilkinson officiating.

The family has requested in lieu of flowers that contributions are made to either the ALS Research Foundation or the Love For Lisbeth fund. Links to both sites are below.

Liz, I'm sure I speak for many in saying that Bud was a wonderful, genuine, sincere and caring soul. At least publicly he kept an unbelievably light hearted demeanor during his long run of health battles. He always spoke with conviction of how lucky he was to have you to help him during those times and how fortunate he was to have the family he does. We are all equally blessed to have known and/or worked with him. I wish you and your family the best and hope your great memories together last forever. He is missed!

I met Bud early on in my professional career and his leadership style and friendly approach made a huge impression on the type of business leader I wanted to be. He was the consumate professional and always positive and encouraging. As our paths separated and distance made it's way in, he did make a concerted effort to send a note and keep in touch. What a wonderful person - I am very grateful to have been touched by his life. We will miss you and always smile when we think of you. Much love, Kim and Ralph Arvizu

From Ed Hurst for my life long friend Buddy Webb:

Do not stand at my grave and weep;
I am not there. I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.

When you awaken in the morning's hush,
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry;
I am not there, I did not die.

Buddy, I will always remember our great times together! Crazy Ed
