Argyre Papadoyiannis

1944 - 2022

Argyre Papadoyiannis, (77) of Staten Island, NY, sadly departed us on Sunday July 24, 2022. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Vasilios Papadoyiannis in 2014. She is survived by her brother, Emmanuel Zeakis and her niece Anna Zeakis-Lyons (husband Brian Lyons), her great niece and great nephews. (Arianna, Matthew and Dennis). Argyre was born in the village of Melambes in Crete, Greece on November 5, 1944. She came to New York City with her husband in the late 1960's. They resided in Westerleigh. Argyre worked for the state at S.I.D.D.S.O (Willowbrook State School) as a food supervisor, until she retired in 1994. She was a great cook and loved to cook and bake authentic Greek dishes and desserts. She enjoyed crocheting and traveling. She especially enjoyed her trips back to Greece, where she spent wonderful times with her family and friends there. Argyre was a devout woman in her Greek Orthodox faith and went to church almost every Sunday. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her great niece and her two great nephews. She will be missed by those who loved her dearly. Her viewing will be Friday July 29, 2022, at Casey Funeral Home, 350 Slosson Avenue, Staten Island, NY. A funeral service will be held in her honor on Saturday, July 30, 2022, at Holy Trinity St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church at 9AM. Interment will be Fairview Cemetery.
