Betty Guidera
1928 - 2021
Betty Guidera passed away peacefully in her sleep on November 28 surrounded by her family. Born Catherine Elizabeth Hunt in Stapleton in 1928, Betty was a life long Staten Islander. A graduate of St Louis Academy in Pleasant Plains, Betty married her beloved Andy at the age of 22. They settled in New Dorp and raised 6 children together. Betty was a wonderful mother who always enjoyed being surrounded by her large family. She lived a life of service to her Church, her children and their schools. Betty was an avid reader who enjoyed traveling throughout the US and Europe. Betty was pre-deceased by her husband of 62 years Andy, her daughter Joan Buchanan, her son Bobby Guidera and her brother Daniel "Buddy" Hunt. She is survived by her daughter Pat and her husband Mike Delpriora of Aberdeen, NJ, her son Kevin Guidera and his wife Loraine of Staten Island, her son Brian Guidera and his wife Susan of Okatie, SC her son Tim Guidera and his wife Anne of Savannah, GA, her daughter in law Jean Guidera of Staten Island, her son in law Jack Buchanan of Plainfield, NJ, her sister Ellen McCarthy of Brick, NJ, her brother Jack Hunt of Staten Island, 11 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Hanley Funeral Home. Visitors will be received on Wednesday, Dec 1 from 4:00-8:00pm. Funeral Mass from Our Lady Queen of Peace on Thursday at 9:30 am. Burial at Moravian Cemetery.

So sorry Patty. I never met your mom but I'm sure she was a lovely person, and I see how much you resemble her. I also knew Bobby - he was friendly and encouraging when I started running. Both are sad losses. I'm still on Staten Island, and think often of my old friends, especially the ones who were always nice and friendly, like you. Condolences and best holiday wishes to you and yours.

Very sorry to hear that Mrs. Guidera has passed away. She treated me kindly when I knew her as a a boy growing up in the neighborhood.
