Darrell T. Sarjeant

Native Staten Islander, 53 Darrell T. Sarjeant, 53, of Yukon, OK passed away on December 26, 2021. A native Staten Islander, he was raised by his parents, the late James A. and Lillian Sarjeant, on the South Shore in Historic Sandy Ground. Darrell attended the Pentecostal Faith Church of God in New Brighton. He received his primary and secondary school education at several public and private schools on Staten Island. Darrell played Little League baseball at the South Shore Little League. He developed a passion for the martial arts. As an adult, Darrell relocated from Staten Island to the Oklahoma City, OK area. Darrell taught various forms and systems of the martial arts for over 30 years. He operated the Ohana Self Defense Institute with locations in Oklahoma City and Bethany, OK. Darrell is survived by his daughter, Safiya A. Sarjeant, his brothers, Lawrence (Karen) and Robert Sarjeant, and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews. Darrell was cremated in Oklahoma, and his remains will be interred at the Frederick Douglass Memorial Park, Staten Island, on May 4th.
