Donald McAndrews Obituary

Donald J. Mc Andrews Army veteran, FDNY firefighter, active member of community Donald J. Mc Andrews of Annadale passed away on July 28, 2021. Donald was born and raised in Staten Island. He spent the greater part of his life working for the FDNY. A proud Veteran he served in Germany as a paratrooper during the Korean War for the United States Army. Donald was actively involved in his Community. He was a Grand Marshal of the St. Patrick's Day Parade, a founding member of the Irish Cultural Center, Member of AOH Division 4, and Henry Stolzenthaler Knights of Columbus Council # 1675. He also belonged to the FDNY Emerald Society, the FDNY Holy Name Association, the Retired Fire Fighters Association and the Catholic War Veterans. Donald was a talented and accomplished artist, he painted many of the doors on firehouses throughout the Island and had some of his works displayed in Ireland. He coached and managed for the South Shore and Babe Ruth little Leagues. He is survived by his devoted wife of 52 years, Josephine; his loving son, Donald II ( DJ) and his wife Sarina; his sister, Ann Mattera and many loving nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, John, Walter, Joseph, Patrick and William. A gathering of family and friends will take place on Sunday at the John Vincent Scalia Home For Funerals Inc., 28 Eltingville Blvd., from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Monday at 10:15 a.m. at Our Lady Star of the Sea Church. Dear Josephine- I don´t get the Staten Island advance delivered anymore and I certainly don´t read the online version as often as I should I just came across Donald obituary and wanted to reach out and tell you I was very sorry to hear this I know you must have 1 million memories and I hope they bring you much comfort. Dear Josephine and Family,

I send my condolences and now Donald is at peace with PeeWee. Sure glad that PeeWee and I with Walter and Diane that we were able to get together in June 2018 for old time sake. Reminiscing the Hugo days where we all met was really something special. We had such a good time laughing about what we did and didn't do. He will be missed and may God take care of you and your family. I send my payers and love.
