She was married to Lewis Kermit Hatchett in 1949 and from this union were four children, Vincent/Paul/Doris Marie/Suzanne Elizabeth. Doris was a native Staten Islander. She graduated from Port Richmond High School. Her primary focus was to be the best homemaker Wife and Mother that she could be. Other interests included music; she played the piano and harmonica; she loved intellectual conversations, trivia, writing, talk radio, and her many friends at the community centers on Staten Island. One thing she was proud of was playing the piano, organ for St. Philips Baptist church in her youth. Left to mourn are Son Vincent Hatchett and Daughter in law Merrian Hatchett, NY NY; Granddaughter Lois Hatchett, of Manassas VA and Great- grandchildren Teon Tiara Tenise of Manassas VA; Nieces and Nephews in Washington DC and California, and a host of friends from Staten Island Community Centers. The family would like to extend our sincerest gratitude to all that have extended love and care to our mother.

Mrs. Hatchett was an amazing woman with a great personality, and a contagious laugh. She always was willing to share a good story with myself and the staff of the West Brighton Senior Center, either on the phone or when she would come by and visit. Mrs. Hatchett will truly be missed!

On behalf of the West Brighton Senior Center Family, our deepest condolences to the Hatchett family.
