George Arthur Croake

1944 - 2022

Served in NYPD for 25 years, ran many mararthons George Arthur Croake, 78, of Manasquan, NJ (previously Flatbush, Brooklyn & New Dorp, Staten Island) passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on March 27, 2022. George was born in Wantagh, NY on February 10, 1944, to Marguerite and Arthur Croake. He joined the United States Marine Corps in 1962 and served our country faithfully for four years, serving overseas in Cuba during the Cuban Missile Crisis. After his honorable discharge, he joined the NYPD where he served his city for 25 years. He joined the elite Emergency Services Unit during his last fifteen years where his bravery and courage saved many lives. George had a passion for running, having completed 14 NYC Marathons, 1 Boston Marathon and 1 USMC Marathon. He lived his life in service to his family, his city, and his country. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Patricia Croake; daughters Kerrianne and Erin, predeceased by Megan; son-in-law Rich Fischer, his grandchildren, Catherine, and Timothy; sisters Eileen Wayne and the late Geraldine Croake Waegelein, and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and lifelong friends. Visitation is at Orender Family Home for Funerals on Thursday, March 31 from 4 to 8 p.m. Mass is Friday, April 1st at St. Denis Church, Manasquan, at 10 a.m. Burial is at Brig. Gen. Wm. C. Doyle Memorial Cemetery, on Monday, April 4 at 10 a.m.
