Isabelle Giovinazzo Obituary

Beloved Mother, Grandmother & Great-Grandmother Native Staten Islander, Isabelle Ann Giovinazzo died at INOVA Mount Vernon Hospital on Wednesday, August 17, 2022 after a short-term illness. She had been a resident of Fairfax County, Virginia since 2007. Born Isabelle Ann Morrow to parents Antoinette (ne Chiomenti) and Dewey Andrew Morrow, she grew up in Grant City, Staten Island. She attended Public School 41 in Staten Island, and then attended high school at Shenandoah Valley Academy in New Market, Virginia where she graduated in 1950. In October of that year, she married and took up residency in Mariners Harbor in Staten Island. In her later years, Isabelle went to Drake Business School for the secretarial program and graduated with straight As. Isabelle was a superb bookkeeper and secretary for Chase Manhattan Bank on Pine Street in Manhattan, where she worked in the Foreign Exchange Department from 1950-1954. She also worked for Blue White Laundry Company in Port Richmond before settling in Great Kills in 1957, where she and her husband raised two children. Other employment included Jeans Beans, a family-owned business, that was a prepared food and deli store in Oakwood. Isabelle then worked at Shop-Rite (Pantry Pride), before being recruited again by Chase Bank - this time in Manhattan and then New Dorp from 1972 to 1982. A long-time parishioner of the St. Clare Parish on Nelson Avenue, Isabelle was the quintessential homemaker. She excelled in preparing traditional and original Italian/American recipes while she passed down her cooking secrets to her children and grandchildren. She loved gardening, and was particularly fond of hosting large family gatherings, holiday celebrations and parties. Isabelle is survived by her daughter Lorraine Ann Giovinazzo, and her grandchildren, Frank Thomas Giovinazzo (spouse Melissa), Allison Hill (ne Giovinazzo - Spouse Brad), Antoinette Frankfurt, and Robert Frankfurt, along with four great grandchildren, Audriana and Jackson Giovinazzo, and Luke and Evan Hill. Also surviving are sisters Nancy Crabb and Francis Morgan, and many dear nieces and nephews. Isabelle is predeceased by her husband of 54 years, Frank Leo Giovinazzo who died in September 2004, her son, Dr. Joseph Anthony Giovinazzo, who died June 2021, and her brother, Dewey Morrow, who died in September 2009. A wake will be held at Casey McCallum Rice South Shore Funeral Home, 30 Nelson Avenue, Staten Island, New York, on Friday, September 16, 2022 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., with a funeral service being held on Saturday, September 17, 2022 at 9:45 a.m. at Church of St. Clare, 110 Nelson Avenue Staten Island, New York.
