Joseph Bottiglia, 81 Retired postal worker Joseph Bottiglia, 81, of Mariners Harbor passed away peacefully on May 20, 2021 . Mr. Bottiglia was preceded in death by his mother Rose (nee Renzi), and father Hugo Bottiglia, as well as his sister Martha Bush, and brother James Bottiglia. He is survived by his loving brother Frank Bottiglia, and nieces Christine Bottiglia, Catherine Kalb, Elizabeth Seebach, Laura Powell, and nephew William Bush. He is also survived by his four great-nephews, a great-niece, and many dear cousins. Mr. Bottiglia was born and raised on Staten Island, and attended P. S. 16, and Curtis High School. He was employed by the U.S. Postal Service in Manhattan as a Mail Handler, and retired after 25 years of service. He later worked part-time for many years at Shoprite on Staten island. He enjoyed frequent trips to Atlantic City and Las Vegas. He was a lifelong fan of thoroughbred horse racing, and often went to racetracks in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Delaware. He was also a professional football fan of the Giants and Jets. His other interests included attending live concerts, Broadway plays, and going to the movies. He also had an exceptional knowledge of the complex NYC subway system. He would often assist tourists in Manhattan with directions to museums, art galleries, theatres, and other popular destinations. Funeral arrangements from the Matthew Funeral Home, Inc., 2508 Victory Boulevard. On Monday, 5/24/2021 departing at 11:00 AM. Christian Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Pity R. C. Church on Monday, May 24, 2021, at 11:30 AM. Entombment will follow at Moravian Cemetery. Due to Covid, all visitors must wear masks, and practice social distancing in the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Jaime's LILAC Foundation, a tax exempt foundation dedicated to the support of cancer research, and providing care packages to cancer patients. FRANKIE and family I am so sorry to hear about Joe's passing..He was a great guy always helped others i was one, he will always be in my heart till the day me and Joe met again. He would give anything to help anyone in need. Frankie please when you feel up to it please call i been trying to reach out to you for a long time once again I'm so sorry. 9292818282 my number. I'm so so upset to hear my buddy joey has left this world. We will meet again joe in heaven. My deepest sympathy to Frankie his brother and to all Joe's family. MY BUDDY JOEY..I LOVED JOE LIKE A BROTHER IM SO SAD TO HEAR HE HAS PASSED I PRAYED EVERYNIGHT SINCE I HEARD HE WAS IN THE HOSPITAL I CALLED THE HOSPITAL EVERY OTHER DAY. THE WORLD WILL NOT BE THE SAME WITHOUT JOE B. IN IT. HE ALWAYS HELPED ANYONE IN NEED I CANT SAY HOW MANY TIMES HE HELPED ME. WE WENT ALL OVER MOVIES AC CONCERTS. WE SEEN THE BRONX TALE IN NEW YORK WE BEEN TO THE SEAPORT NUMOROUS TIMES I STILL HAVE PICS WHEN WE WALKED ACROSS THE BROOKLYN BRIDGE. HE WILL ALWAYS BE IN MY HEART A PIECE OF MY HEART IS WITH JOE.WE HAVE WENT OUT TO WINNERS ALL OVER.HE WOULD GIVE THE SHIRT OFF HIS BACK FOR ANYONE. I WILL HURT FOREVER LOVE YOU JOE B.
