Joseph A. Gorgoglione

Joseph Gorgoglione, 92, passed away on March 3, 2023. He was born on October 2, 1930 on the Lower East Side of Manhattan, NY. Joseph was the son of Antonio and Julia D'Elia Gorgoglione and grew up with his brother Domenic and sisters Rose and Lucy. He graduated from Seward Park High School. He married his high school sweetheart, Anna Necci in 1950 and had two children, Vincent and Richard. They raised their children in Queens, NY before moving to Staten Island. He served in the US Army from 1951-1953. Joseph worked for the Department of Education for over 45 years as a coal fireman, and later became a Custodian Engineer. He was predeceased by his wife Anna and son Vincent. He later married Colleen Smith in 1989. Joseph retired in 2000 and settled in Clover, South Carolina, where he enjoyed his garden, woodworking, and time with his family. He is survived by his son Richard, daughter-in-law Anne, four stepchildren, Colleen, Lynde, Jenny, and Tina, fourteen grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. Viewing will be held at Colonial Funeral Home, located at 2819 Hylan Blvd., Staten Island, NY 10306, on Tuesday, March 7th from 4:00-8:00pm. A mass will be held at St. Charles Catholic Church, located at 200 Penn Ave., Staten Island, NY 10306, on Wednesday, March 8th at 9:00am. His final resting place will be Long Island National Cemetery in Farmingdale, NY. Colonial Funeral Home
