Joseph P. "Buddy" Jr. and Ursula Cashin

Joseph P. "Buddy" Jr. and Ursula Cashin (nee Nolan), who were married 58 years, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family within a week of each other. Buddy and Ursula met on vacation 60 years ago. After marrying, they lived in Brooklyn for a few years and then moved their young family to Staten Island, where they lived until their passing. They were long time parishioners of St. Adalbert's RC Church where they regularly attended mass and participated in parish activities. They were devoted to their five children and six grandchildren. Ursula, 83, a loving wife, mother and grandmother passed away on March 24, 2022. A graduate of Catherine Mc Auley High School in Brooklyn, Ursula worked at the New York Telephone Company. Always upbeat and with a smile, her greatest joy in life was spending time with those she loved, especially her children and grandchildren. Ursula was a board member and active in St. Adalbert's Mother Club for many years. She loved doing weekly Eucharistic adorations at the Society of St. Paul and she was also a proud blood donor at the New York Blood Bank for over 20 years. Buddy, 88, a devoted husband, father and grandfather passed away on March 31, 2022. He was a graduate of Erasmus Hall High School in Brooklyn and served in the US Air Force as a Firefighter with postings in Korea and the US. He had a 40-year career in Banking and Finance at the BNY and BOA. Buddy had a passion for baseball and the Brooklyn Dodgers and later cheered on the NY Mets. He also enjoyed gardening and coin collecting. Buddy was a devoted family man, always quick with a joke and a man of faith. As proud Americans, they also enjoyed celebrating their Irish heritage which often included dinner dances, Staten Island St Patrick's Day parades, and listening and singing Irish songs. Together they had many wonderful adventures including cruises to Alaska, Bermuda, and New England as well as escorted tours in Ireland and California. Other adventures include a Pilgrimage to Lourdes France, trips to Italy, Palm Springs, Dominican Republic, Walt Disney World, long summer weekends in Point Pleasant Beach, hot air ballooning in Arizona, Lancaster, PA, and Atlantic City. Buddy and Ursula are survived by their children - Patricia Bellini (Peter), Mary Alice Cashin, Christine Ventre (Frank), Ursula Mahoney (Tom) and Joseph Cashin III (Rosanna) and six grandchildren Anthony, Jaclyn, Alyssa, Brandon, Joseph, and Patrick. Also survived by Buddy's brother Wally (Madeline) and were a loving aunt/uncle to many wonderful nieces and nephews. Ursula was pre-deceased by her parents James and Teresa Nolan (nee Kealey) and her siblings James, Theresa, John, Patricia, Edward, and Raymond. Buddy was pre-deceased by his parents Joseph P. Cashin Sr. and Bridget Cashin (nee Darcy), his siblings Joan Argano, Patricia Federico, and half siblings from Ireland Bill Cashin, Millie Finnan and Bridget Farrell. They were both pre- deceased by their godchild Sara Jones and beloved In-Laws and cousins. Buddy and Ursula were laid to rest in Calverton National Cemetery.
